Specsavers Australia named 2013 Australian Retailer of the Year

Specsavers Australia has won two top awards for excellence at the Australian Retail Association’s annual Australian Retail Awards. Specsavers Australia picked up the coveted ‘Visa Australian Retailer of the Year’ and ‘BDO Australian Retail Employer of the Year’ awards, fighting off stiff competition from Australia’s largest retailers including Myer, Priceline Pharmacies, Jeans West and Pandora.

As Australia's only national retail award program, The Australian Retail Association’s annual Retail Awards is the most prestigious competition of its kind and celebrates the country’s most successful retail players. Specsavers General Manager Australasia and Global Retail Director, Derek Dyson, was thrilled to represent Specsavers at the event and picked up the Australian Retailer of the Year award on the team’s behalf.

“It is a great honour and also a fantastic recognition for our business. It is incredible to think that within only five years of operation, we have opened almost 300 stores, employed more than 3,000 people in Australia in our stores and Support Office, introduced a manufacturing base into Australia, and are now market leaders for both eye tests and prescription eye wear,” says Derek.
