How is diabetic retinopathy treated?
The main way diabetic retinopathy is treated is using a laser. The process is called photocoagulation. The laser seals the tiny blood vessels in the retina at the back of the eye that become 'leaky' in diabetes. Leakage of fluid from these vessels can interfere with vision.
