How is retinitis pigmentosa treated?
Answer:
Unfortunately there is no current treatment for retinitis pigmentosa. However, intensive research is being done all over the world to identify the causes, means of prevention and possible treatments. There is a school of thought that high doses of vitamin A can slow the process of retinal degeneration, however there is very little evidence that supports this definitively and if you do have retinitis pigmentosa you should consult your optometrist or medical practitioner before considering this option.
